Expectations of my missions trip
We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving to Kenya. Here is what I’m expecting…
I expect this trip to be total culture shock, more than I have ever seen before. I have seen Kenya on TV but seeing it close up will bring a new perspective to the world. I have been to Mexico and seen the poverty there, but I think this will be way different. I expect to be overwhelmed by all the people and excited to hug the children that will most likely want to hang off of us as we walk down the garbage ridden alleys. I hope to make kids smile and to learn to speak some of the language. My expectation is to present Jesus to the people in a way that they will understand his love and sacrifice and respond to it. I pray for all of us that we come home healthy and with a strong calling, one that causes us to lose sleep if we don’t follow it. I pray that we have an energetic group who loves to serve God and become great friends. I am excited about going to Kenya, I trust that God will watch over us and keep us safe. I hope that God will open our eyes to new possibilities of a life less ordinary and make us realize that most of the world does not have three good meals a days and a sturdy roof over there head. I also think that Peanut Butter is delicious and I hope I don’t get tired of it after 6 weeks!!!
