Team Kenya,
Angela and I are EXTREMELY excited to see all of you tomorrow! We are going to have so much fun with training camp and have lots planned for you! I wanted to send out a “last-minute” post to you all about things you may want to think about bringing/not bringing for the trip.
DRYER SHEETS- ALL OF OUR CLOTHES IN KENYA WILL BE WASHED BY HAND. THERE WON’T BE ANY SPIN CYCLES OR DRYERS SO DRYER SHEETS ARE A PLUS. THEY WILL MAKE YOUR CLOTHES SMELL “FRESH FULLY-CLEAN” AND THEY WORK AS A GREAT BUG REPELLANT!
HEAD LAMP- IF YOU HAVE A FLASHLIGHT OR A “HEAD LAMP” (A LIGHT THAT STRAPS TO YOUR FOREHEAD) THEN PLEASE BRING IT! YOU WILL NEED IT FOR ALL OF THE PLACES WITH NO ELECTRICITY. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE, DON’T STRESS ABOUT IT.
LAPTOPS- ANGELA AND I HAVE TALKED ABOUT LAPTOPS ON THE TRIP AND WE DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE BEST IF YOU DIDN’T BRING ONE. THERE’S MANY FACTORS THAT PLAY IN TO OUR DECISION SO WE ASK THAT YOU TRUST US ON THIS. WE WILL HAVE ACCESS TO AN INTERNET CAFE SO YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE CONTACT WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS BACK HOME.
L’OREAL NUTRISUMMER FACE & BODY LOTION- ANGELA AND I SPOKE WITH ONE OF OUR HOST PARENTS, SIMON, IN KENYA. WE ASKED SIMON IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THAT WE COULD BRING HIM FROM THE UNITED STATES THAT THEY COULD NOT GET IN KENYA. HE ASKED US ABOUT “L’OREAL FACE & BODY LOTION” AND IT CALLED “NUTRISUMMER.” IF SOME OF YOU GUYS CAN LOOK FOR THIS IN AS MANY DEPARTMENT STORES AS POSSIBLE, PLEASE DO! BE SURE TO LOOK FOR THE NAME BRAND “L’OREAL” AND THE TYPE OF LOTION IS “NUTRISUMMER.” THIS WILL BE A VERY NICE GIFT FOR OUR HOST MOTHER!

I know this is a totally random thing to know, but L’oreal is a target/ cvs type place brand, and nutrisummer is a seasonal product ( we swear by this stuff in san diego but have to stock up in july) so if we can’t find this particular stuff is there a second choice?
